PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson are co-favorites at 8-1 to win this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Over the years, Mickelson and Johnson have enjoyed more than the stunning scenery on the Monterey Peninsula.

Mickelson, the defending champion here, has won four times (1998, 2005, '07, '12) and recorded eight top-10s in 17 appearances at Northern California's only annual Tour stop, formerly known as the Crosby Clambake, after the late entertainer Bing Crosby.

Mickelson earned his co-favorite position after an impressive performance last week in Arizona. He started the week shooting 11-under 60 at TPC Scottsdale and cruised in winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open, his 41st PGA Tour victory.

In five appearances in the AT&T, Johnson has won twice (2009 and '10) among four top-10s. However, his misstep in the final round of the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach will taint his legacy here. Johnson, leading by three shots with 18 holes to play, stumbled to an 82 and tie for eighth. In eight subsequent rounds in the AT&T, he has broken 70 only once, with an opening 63 last year en route to a tie for fifth.

In this week's European Tour event, Charl Schwartzel is the 3-1 favorite, with defending champion Brandan Grace a 7-1 pick in the Joburg Open at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club in South Africa.

Schwartzel, a South African, won the 2011 Joburg Open. Countryman Grace won last year by one shot over Jamie Elson.
