Semifinals set at Big 10 Match Play Championship

The semifinals are set for the Big 10 Match Play Championship. Illinois will meet Ohio State on the top of the bracket while Michigan State will play Iowa on the bottom of the bracket. The winners of those matches advance to the championship match, to be played Saturday afternoon.
Illinois was the only team among the eight that advanced to Friday afternoon play to go undefeated in the quartefinals. The Illini won four matches against Michigan. Only Illinois’ Charlie Danielson halved with Michigan’s Chris O’Neill. Thomas Detry earned the biggest victory for Illinois, defeating Michigan’s Brett McIntosh, 5 and 4.
Michigan State and Iowa each lost one match to their respective opponents.
All matches were played at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. Teams that advanced through Friday morning’s first round earned a quarterfinals berth.
The semifinals will be played on Saturday afternoon, with the championship match directly following.
