Rory McIlroy is the defending champ. Tiger Woods fired a 62 in the final round last year.

Yet, neither one is being picked to win the Honda Classic by our fantasy panel.

Instead, Justin Rose is getting plenty of love. And for good reason. Rose has not finished worse than a share of 24th in his last 10 starts and has two top-5s in his past two appearances at PGA National.

Other stars to keep an eye on at Honda are Charl Schwartzel and Lee Westwood.

Americans have won every title on the PGA Tour this season, so a win by England's Rose, South Africa's Schwartzel or England's Westwood would break that cycle.

As for our panel, Nick Masuda maintains his slight edge over Jeff Rude, with the latter having the best week at WGC-Accenture Match Play, mainly for his upset pick of Fredrik Jacobson.

Here is a look at this week's picks:

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Charl Schwartzel

In good form at the moment. Just missed playoff at Northern Trust Open. Tied for fifth last year at Honda. South African spends time in south Florida and is comfortable there.

Chris Kirk

Already two top-5 finishes this year, including second at Pebble Beach.

Winner: Tiger Woods ($46,000); wild card: Fredrik Jacobson ($144,000). 2013 total: $3,005,999

McCabe Justin Rose

Has fared well at PGA National – T-5 in 2012, T-3 in 2010, T-15 in 2008 – and there's a steady confidence in his game that is the highest it's ever been.

Geoff Ogilvy

In desperate need of a solid tournament and while the course is new to him, the area isn't; in six starts at venues pre-PGA National, the Aussie was within the top 15 five times, including two runner-ups.

Winner: Charl Schwartzel ($46,000); wild card: Matteo Manassero ($46,000). 2013 total: $1,913,850

Martin Justin Rose

Top-5 finishes in his last two appearances here (T5, 2012; 3rd, 2010). Rose has finished no worse than 24th in his past 10 worldwide starts, including three runners-up.

Justin Hicks

Hear me out here. Hicks, who had 10 top-10s on the Web.com Tour in 2012, is a strong ballstriker, which will help with PGA National's trying layout. He's also a South Florida resident. His T-17 at the 2011 Honda Classic was his second-best finish in his rookie season. He's having a better season in his second year on Tour, having made the cut in his first four starts of 2013, including two top-15 finishes.

Winner: Louis Oosthuizen ($96,000); wild card: Ryan Moore ($46,000). 2013 total: $1,317,690

Ringler Justin Rose

Attention this week is on Tiger and Rory which will allow the likes of Rose to creep into contention. Rose has finished in the top 24 in his last 10 worldwide starts including three runner-up finishes. Placed fifth at the Honda last year.

Billy Horschel

Gaining ground on Sunday leaderboards. Made 16 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, going 5-for-5 this year with a pair of top-11 finishes.

Winner: Luke Donald ($96,000); wild card: David Toms ($46,000). 2013 total: $2,600,886

Masuda Lee Westwood

He lives nearby (not that that really makes a difference), and has a pair of top-10s over his last three trips to the Honda Classic, including a fourth-place finish last year.

Russell Henley

How can I pick against the kid? Won in January, knocked off the hottest golfer on the planet (Charl Schwartzel) last week. Kid is nails, especially with the putter.

Winner: Tiger Woods ($46,000); wild card: Thorbjorn Olesen ($96,000). 2013 total: $3,161,408
