The Honda Classic is guaranteed to spend the next four years at PGA National Resort & Spa after extending its contract with the Palm Beach Gardens resort.

PGA National's Champion Course, a Jack Nicklaus-designed layout, rated among the most difficult on the PGA Tour in 2012.

For years the Honda Classic has tried to find a permanent home in south Florida. From 1972 to 1983, the Honda was played at the Inverrary Golf & Country Club in Lauderhill. In 1984, the tournament moved to TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs. In 1992, it landed at Weston Hills Golf & Country Club in Fort Lauderdale before returning to Eagle Trace for the 1996 event. In 1997, it was off to TPC Heron Bay for six years before moving north to Palm Beach Gardens at the Country Club at Mirasol from 2003 through '06 before finding a home at PGA National in '07.

"We feel like we have the best venue on the PGA Tour," said Kenneth R. Kennerly, the Honda Classic's executive director. "The move to PGA National has allowed The Honda Classic to emerge as one of the top events of the year. The players love the course and enjoy their time in Palm Beach County, which is evidenced by the number of top players who continue to move to this area. We are excited that we will be able to stay at PGA National as we move into the future."
