HONOLULU – It didn’t take long for Dustin Johnson to be installed as the favorite to win his second event in the 2013 PGA Tour season.

After Johnson won the weather-marred Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Tuesday, he was quickly installed as an 8-1 favorite in this week's Sony Open. Johnson shot 16-under 203 for the 54-hole Hyundai TOC, which was squeezed into two days on the windswept Maui resort. It was his seventh Tour title.

Johnson has played in the Sony Open only twice since turning pro in 2007, tying for 10th in 2008 and posting a T-16 in 2010.

Johnson has broken par in six of his eight rounds at Waialae Country Club, posting a 68.375 stroke average.

Last week at the Hyundai TOC, Johnson was a 12-1 co-favorite with Matt Kuchar, Jason Dufner, Steve Stricker and Ian Poulter.

Johnson will tee off at 7:50 a.m. local time off No. 10 in Thursday’s first round with defending champion Johnson Wagner and Zach Johnson.
