Snedeker moves to career-best 8th in OWGR
Brandt Snedeker didn’t win the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, but he did reach a new benchmark in his career. Snedeker rose to a career-best eighth in the Official World Golf Ranking after his third-place finish at Kapalua.
He’s coming off the first multiple-win season of his career, as well as a victory in the FedEx Cup.
Hyundai champion Dustin Johnson rose from 23rd to 12th in the OWGR this week. He was a career-high fourth in the ranking in October 2011. Hyundai runner-up Steve Stricker, who once was No. 2 in the world ranking, moved up five spots in the OWGR this week, to No. 13.
John Huh, the 2012 rookie of the year, moved from 66th to 62nd in the OWGR after finishing 18th at Kapalua, giving him an opportunity to qualify for his first WGC. The top 64 players in the OWGR as of Feb. 11 qualify for the WGC-Accenture Match Play. Huh's first PGA Tour victory came at last year’s Mayakoba Golf Classic, which was held the same week as the Match Play; Huh was No. 543 in the Official World Golf Ranking at the start of 2012.
