SAN DIEGO -- The pairings are set, the six-time champ is back and an incredible putter is a man to watch this week at Torrey Pines.

Tiger Woods will grab many of the headlines this week at he returns to the Farmers Insurance Open in southern California, a spot that he has won six times. However, this is only Woods' second appearance at the tournament in the last four years, finishing T-44 in 2011.

Meanwhile, defending champion Brandt Snedeker won the FedEx Cup and has had a solid opening to his season, making him a dangerous man to watch this week.

There is also Charles Howell III, who has two top-3 finishes on Tour this season already, losing in a playoff last week at La Quinta.

Our fantasy panel has a rough third week of the Tour season, with our Nick Masuda picking up his second consecutive goose egg, while Jeff Rude maintains his small lead over Lance Ringler for the clubhouse lead.

Take a look at our picks for this week:

Rank Winner Wild Card Last Week
Rude Dustin Johnson

Long hitter and hot. Also is suited for Torrey Pines

Charles Howell III

Two top-3 finishes in as many weeks and has contended at Torrey Pines in past

Winner: Phil Mickelson ($22,400); wild card: Russell Henley ($12,432). 2013 total: $1,321,149

McCabe Charles Howell III

Why not ride the hot hand? Two tournaments, albeit both on friendly venues, and he's finished T-3 and T-2 with nothing worse than a 67. But the roll began at the end of 2012 (T-11, T-7, T-15) so over his last 20 rounds he is an eye-opening 74-under. Back that up with this: Howell has never missed a cut in 10 starts in this tournament, recording four top 10s, including two seconds.

John Rollins

Nothing wrong with the way he's playing – T-20 at Sony, T-16 a week ago – and he's shown an ability to get it going at Torrey Pines (four top 10s in a dozen starts), where he was third a year ago.

Winner: Matt Kuchar ($78,560); wild card: Tim Clark (MC). 2013 total: $969,581

Martin Brandt Snedeker

He's opened the season with two top-25 finishes. Some people shy from the defending champion, figuring the odds are long that he'll repeat his success. Snedeker's victory here last year was just the latest in a string of high finishes here, though. He was ninth in 2011, second in 2010 and third in 2007.

Luke Guthrie

Taking a chance on the Tour rookie after his hot finish to the Humana Challenge, where he played his final three rounds in 19 under par (67-64-66) to finish 27th after a first-round 73.

Winner: Brandt Snedeker ($51,520); wild card: Chris Kirk (MC). 2013 total: $398,440

Ringler Brandt Snedeker

Hard to look past the big names, but Snedeker comes into this week with two good events to start the '13 season and has a great record at Torrey Pines winning last year and posting a total of five top 10s in seven starts, including the 2008 U.S. Open.

Charles Howell III

Possibly the hottest player on PGA Tour right now with a playoff loss last week and third-place finish at Sony. Great form at Torrey Pines making 10 cuts in 10 starts and six top 15s.

Winner: Pat Perez (MC); wild card: Harris English ($11,424). 2013 total: $1,266,626

Masuda Tiger Woods

He's won six times here. He has won a major on a broken leg. One little Abu Dhabi cut isn't going to make or break Tiger. He'll make it seven this Sunday.

Charles Howell III

It's tough to pick against the guy at this stage, as he has two top-5 finishes the past few two weeks, is comfortable at Torrey and could potentially be playing himself into comeback player of the year status.

Winner: Webb Simpson (MC); wild card: Gary Woodland (MC). 2013 total: $154,600
