Van Pelt fires 59 in pro-am at WMPO
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Bo Van Pelt fired a course-record 59 in Wednesday's pro-am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, but it won't go down in the record books because it was in the pro-am.
Van Pelt picked up 10 birdies and an eagle on the 7,216-yard, par-71 TPC Scottsdale course, including hitting the pin on the par-4 17th hole, a 332-yard drivable hole. He played his last seven holes in 7 under.
Stuart Appleby, who shot 59 in the final round to win the 2010 Greenbrier Classic, posted the most recent sub-60 score on Tour.
