Stanford's Rodgers fires 67 at John Deere Classic
Thursday, July 11, 2013
Stanford junior Patrick Rodgers shot a 4-under 67 Thursday at the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
Playing as an amateur on a sponsor exemption, Rodgers equaled his best round on the PGA Tour. He shot 67 in the first round of last year's John Deere Classic before shooting a second-round 74 to miss the cut.
Rodgers made six birdies and two bogeys on Thursday and was three shots behind leaders Zach Johnson and Camilo Villegas when his round ended.
This is Rodgers' third PGA Tour start. He missed the cut in his two previous starts, the 2012 Travelers and last year's John Deere Classic.
