Graham Marsh, Jerry Pate WD at Senior Open
Sunday, July 14, 2013
Graham Marsh and Jerry Pate were only able to play one round at the U.S. Senior Open at Omaha (Neb.) CC, both withdrawing before the start of Friday's second round for medical reasons.
Pate, 59, an Alabama Crimson Tide product who has won $15,465 in three Champions Tour events this year, was arguably in contention at 1 over. Marsh, 69, an Aussie who won in 1997 and hadn't played on the Champions Tour this year, had shot 87 on a troublesome hip.
Peter Jacobsen, another past champion (2004), also withdrew Thursday because of dehydration.
In early play Friday, Fred Funk and Mark O'Meara have pulled alongside first-round co-leaders Michael Allen, Jay Don Blake and Kenny Perry atop the leaderboard at 3 under.
