Mickelson drops Scottish Open trophy
Phil Mickelson made a mess of the 72nd hole at the Scottish Open before pulling out the victory in a playoff. (Read Alistair Tait's column on the victory here)
He also nearly made a mess afterwards, dropping the championship trophy while posing for pictures with his family. His daughter, Amanda, tried to catch the trophy, but was too late. Luckily, the trophy wasn't made of glass. Click here for pictures of the trophy drop via the Daily Mail.
Mickelson's victory was his first on the European Tour and first victory in Europe since he won a Challenge Tour event in 1993. He'll look to make it two in a row in Europe this week at the Open Championship at Muirfield. He also moved up in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Should he win, you can bet he'll be gripping that Claret Jug a little tighter.
