European Tour goes Happy Gilmore at Scottish Open

Every golf fan surely has seen 'Happy Gilmore', and probably just as many have quoted the movie one too many times, as well.

But for all the "Get in your home" and "The price is wrong" quotes, there are twice as many failed attempts at the well-known 'Happy Gilmore' golf swing. You know, the guy that runs up to the ball and swings for the fences, only to whiff, slice it into a window or pull a back muscle.

There are, of course, those who can pull it off.

The European Tour released a YouTube video on Friday of some of its players taking a crack at Happy's patented swing prior to the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links.

Some, Shane Lowry and Paul Lawrie among them, made good efforts. Others, mainly Phil Mickelson, who turned a right-handed club over before topping the ball left into the gallery, warranted a few "You should be working at the snack bar" jokes.
