Forrester, Mikkelsen win in playoff at Baltusrol

Carlton Forrester and Kris Mikkelsen defeated Nick Desai and Nick Desai in a playoff to win the Baltusrol Invitational on Friday in Springfield, N.J.
Forrester and Mikkelsen, of the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga., shot a better-ball 67 and 69 on the Lower Course, followed by a 149 in aggregate medal play. They were caught from behind by the Desais, of host Baltusrol Golf Club, who shot a 146 in aggregate medal play on the Upper Course to force the playoff.
Kory Bowman and John Culp, of Hickory Hills CC in Springfield, Mo., finished third at 290. Tying for fourth another shot back were the teams of Jerry Chang and Brad Shaw, of Los Angeles CC, and M. Parker Williams and Paul DeRosa of Congressional CC in Bethesda, Md.
The mid-amateur invitational four-ball tournament played has been played since 1975.
