ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Dad’s the word when it comes to Carly Booth and tattoos.
And, er, naked photos in American sports magazines.
Booth garnered much attention when she recently posed for ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue. The 21-year-old Scot was one of 20 athletes, including 77-year-old Gary Player, who were featured.
Her father Wallace, though, was more concerned about what the pictures really revealed.
Booth has a tattoo on her right side that reads: “It’s not in the stars that hold our destiny, but in ourselves.” The quotation comes from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
Wallace Booth didn’t ask the obvious question when he saw the photos.
“He’s like, ‘Oh, I didn’t realize you had another tattoo,' ” Carly Booth said.
Carly spent many years hiding her only other tattoo.
“The one on my foot is the one I’ve had the longest," she said. "For a long time, I was not going anywhere without socks on in the house. He saw it a few times and said: ‘What’s that on your foot?’ I’m like, ‘It’s a sticker.’ I’m sure he believed that for about two years.”
Kids. The things they hide from their parents.
