Monday, August 5, 2013
The Presidents Cup will make its first appearance in Asia in 2015, and Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea will be the host course.
Nicklaus joined PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem Wednesday to announce that Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in New Songdo City, South Korea, will host the biennial event. Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, another Nicklaus course, is set to host this year's Presidents Cup.
"Today, we further strengthen Jack Nicklaus’ commitment and connection to the Presidents Cup," Finchem said.
Added Nicklaus: "This will be a tremendous opportunity to showcase on a world stage the beauty of Korea and the country’s passion for the game of golf. Having been fortunate to be involved in several Presidents Cup matches in the past, I know how uniquely special this event is and how it represents to a global audience all that is great about the game of golf.”
The par-72, 7,413-yard course, located about 40 miles west of Seoul, hosted the Songdo Championship on the Champions Tour in 2010-11, and the 2012 Korea Women’s Open.
