Cates-Moore steps down at Fresno State
Angie Cates-Moore is stepping down as head women’s golf coach at Fresno State to spend more time with her family. Her resignation becomes effective Aug. 1, and the university will immediately begin a national search for her replacement.
Cates-Moore is the only head coach in the history of the program, and has been with the Bulldogs since the inaugural 2004-05 season. She led Fresno State to the 2008 WAC Championship and an NCAA West Regional appearance, and has coached 17 All-American scholars and two WAC individual champions along the way.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my coaching career and will miss being affiliated with Fresno State,” Cates-Moore said. “It was an honor to originate the women’s golf program over nine years ago, and I have been blessed with many incredible student-athletes that brought pride and success to our program. We were also very fortunate to be surrounded with a wonderful support staff and a community that was so generous with their support and time. While I will sincerely miss coaching, I look forward to more time at home to be with my husband and raise our young daughter.”
The Bulldogs ended the season ranked No. 81 by Golfweek.
