Tropical storm wipes out third round of Palmetto

Alabama's Scott Strohmeyer

Second-round scores

Tropical Storm Andrea has caused the third round of the Palmetto Amateur in Aiken, S.C., to be canceled. Tournament officials decided to wipe out Round 3, cut the field to the low 63 players and ties and have shuffled Saturday’s round to a two-tee start.

The cut fell at 8-over 148, and 69 players will tee it up at Palmetto Golf Club again on Saturday.

Sam Love of Trussville, Ala., leads after two rounds. His 5-under 65 in the second round put him at 5 under for the tournament.

Carson Jacobs and Scott Strohmeyer, a member of the national-champion Alabama squad, are tied for second at 4 under, followed by Nicholas Reach, Ben Fogler and Jeremy Grab at 3 under.
