U.S. Open: Stanley, Palmer among 6 additions

ARDMORE, Pa. – Kyle Stanley and Ryan Palmer were among six players added to the U.S. Open on Monday morning, completing the 156-player field at Merion Golf Club.

Stanley received entry for being in the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking on June 10 and will make his fourth U.S. Open appearance.

Palmer gets in after a marathon loss in the Dallas sectional.

The others landing starting spots:

Harold Varner III, a regular on the eGolf Tour after a standout college career at East Carolina.

Rikard Karlberg, the first alternate from the England sectional.

Mike Weir, the first alternate from the Columbus, Ohio, sectional and making his 13th U.S. Open appearance.

Ryan Yip, the first alternate from the Springfield, Ohio, sectional.
