Iowa hires former SMU head coach as assistant

Saturday, June 29, 2013

Former SMU women's head coach Todd Selders is joining the Iowa women's staff as an assistant, the Hawkeyes announced Saturday.

"Todd is very respected by his peers across the country and has proven at every stop along the way to be effective," head coach Megan Menzel said.

Selders was an assistant at N.C. State the last two seasons; the Wolfpack finished 13th at the NCAA Championships this year.

He led SMU for 11 seasons, leaving the Mustangs in 2010 after four trips to the NCAA Regionals and coach of the year honors in Conference USA in 2010 and the WAC in 2004.

Selders replaces Laura Cilek on Iowa's staff. Selders played for Central State in Edmond, Okla., before earning his Master's degree at SMU. readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
