Cal, Kim sweep titles at Fresno State Lexus
Golfweek’s No. 1 team, California, won for the seventh time this season at the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic at Belmont CC in Fresno, Calif., on Tuesday. In this tournament, six players competed for each team counting five scores.
Cal won by 37 shots over tournament host Fresno State, shooting a three-day total of 43-under 1,037. Fresno State shot 6-under 1,074. In third place was No. 44 BYU, one-shot back of the Bulldogs.
Cal’s Michael Kim won the individual title. He has won three of his last four starts dating back to the fall season, and he has finished in the top-10 in all eight events this season. Kim shot 68-65-67 for a 16-under total.
Cal finished 1-2-3 on the leaderboard, with teammate Brandon Hagy in second, six strokes back of Kim, and Michael Weaver in third.
