Tiger Tracker: Round 1 at WGC-Cadillac

For the second time in 2013, the Rory & Tiger Show was in full effect - this time with different storylines for each player.

Tiger Woods shot a 6-under 66, and was tied for the lead at the end of his day. He had nine birdies, three bogeys and six pars on the day.

Rory McIlroy, who at one point was last in the field during the first round, finished with a 1-over 73 and is now T-52. He made the turn on No. 1 and made eagle, but then made three consecutive bogeys. He birdied Nos. 7 and 8 coming down the stretch.

See how it unfolded with the Tracker:

• • •

Hole No. 9, Par 3, 169 yards

Nine birdies for Tiger, today. And he's in a tie for the lead.

Hole wrap-up: A good tee shot for Tiger on his last hole. He's on the fringe and about 20 feet. He made a good run at it, but it fell just short and broke right at the end. He'll end the day with a par and a share of the lead.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 6 under

Elsewhere on the course: McIlroy just misses his birdie putt and will finish his round at 1 over par.

• • •

Hole No. 8, Par 5, 560 yards

Tiger makes his eighth birdie of the day. He has twice as many birdies as he does pars today.

Hole wrap-up: Out of frustration, Tiger whips his club back around after his tee shot lands in the right fairway bunker. After getting out of the bunker and laying up, he sticks it to 3 feet for birdie. Count it, and it takes him into a tie for the lead.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 6 under

Elsewhere on the course: Freddie Jacobson, Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan and Tiger Woods are now at the top of the leaderboard at 6 under.

• • •

Hole No. 7, Par 4, 454 yards

Dustin Johnson takes the solo lead after Hunter Mahan drops back to 5 under with a bogey, joining Freddie Jacobson in second. Tiger is T-4 at 4 under.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger splits the middle of the fairway and then hits a fantastic approach shot to about 5 feet left of the cup for his third consecutive great look at birdie. This one is in the heart of the cup and Tiger is now one off the lead behind his eighth birdie of the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 5 under

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy makes a 6-footer for birdie at No. 7 to get back to 2 over on the day.

• • •

Hole No. 6, Par 4, 442 yards

With a limited field, there are going to be plenty of big names atop the leaderboard. The names are quite big currently, with both Tiger and Phil Mickelson two shots back of leaders Dustin Johnson and Hunter Mahan. Freddie Jacobson is one back, while Steve Striker, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Webb Simpson and Peter Hanson are two back.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger goes well right of the fairway off the tee, but is able to recover nicely out of the rough, landing his approach about 10 feet under the hole. Another great birdie opportunity. But he lips out on the left for the second consecutive hole.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 under

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy is T-58 in the 65-player field after a par at No. 5.

• • •

Hole No. 5, Par 4, 394 yards

Tiger is now one off the lead, held by the trio of Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan and Freddie Jacobson.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger slides his tee ball up the left side of the fairway and then hits a knock-down approach that rolls to about 8 feet under the hole. Tiger can't get this one to drop though, hitting the right side of the cup, but lipping out and settling for a par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 under

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy three-putts for a bogey at No. 4 and is now 3 over on his round, eight shots back of the leaders.

• • •

Hole No. 4, Par 3, 236 yards

That's six birdies and three bogeys for Tiger on Thursday, a solid round that has him two shots off the lead.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger hits a 4-iron into the green and it stays just on the fringe, about 30 feet to the left of the flag. Tiger rolls in a long one from off the green for his seventh birdie of the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 under

• • •

Hole No. 3, Par 4, 438 yards

Back-to-back-to-back birdies for Tiger and has six on the day.

Hole wrap-up: Off the tee with a 3-wood, Tiger doubled crossed himself and it's heading way left. Fortunately, it hit the tree and it bounced back towards the fairway. Although it landed in the rough, Tiger had some luck bounce his way. Yelling for it to get down right away, Tiger's ball lands to the left of the cup. That's three or four feet below the hole. Tiger tried to run it up the hill, but it didn't gain enough speed to get up on the green. He takes out the flag stick and tries to make the chip shot for par. He misses and makes his bogey putt.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3 under

Elsewhere on the course Rickie Fowler makes another birdie to get to 4 under through 15 holes. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy picks up another bogey to fall back to 2 over, while Luke Donald has worked his way back to 1 under.

• • •

Hole No. 2, Par 4, 418 yards

Tiger took advantage of the par 5 with a birdie.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger cuts it too much off the tee and lands it in the right rough off the tee. It wasn't a bad lie though and played a nice wedge as he puts it to 6 feet. He drains it taking him to 4 under on the tournament.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 4 under

Elsewhere on the course: Hunter Mahan and Freddie Jacobson have taken a one-shot lead at 5-under. Mahan is just making the turn and Jacobson is through 10 holes.

• • •

Hole No. 1, Par 5, 529 yards

Tiger plays the more difficult nine in 2 under and now gets to the par-5 1st, which is 35 under on for his career.

Hole wrap-up: A big driver here, cutting it a bit and it finds the middle of the fairway. Will definitely be able to get after the green in two. He gets it there, but off the back of the green and about 40 feet from the pin. He leaves his eagle his short, but finishes with a 3 foot birdie putt.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3 under

Elsewhere on the course: Thaworn Wiratchant joins Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson at 4 under, one shot clear of five others. McIlroy makes his 10 foot eagle putt to get back to even par for the tournament.

• • •

Hole No. 18, Par 4, 467 yards

Solid opening eight holes, with three birdies and two sloppy bogeys.

Hole wrap-up: A huge driver here for Tiger. He's feeling it after that swing. A very nice approach sticks about 10 feet right of the cup. And he buries the birdie putt for his fourth on his opening nine.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2 under

Elsewhere on the course: Webb Simpson is on fire early, rolling in his fourth birdie at No. 6 to share the lead with Hunter Mahan, who birdies No. 7. Meanwhile, on No. 18, Luke Donald double bogeys to fall to 2 over overall. McIlroy pushes his par putt right of the hole at 18 and falls to 2 over as well.

• • •

Hole No. 17, Par 4, 419 yards

Tiger has his putter going early, picking up his third birdie at No. 16 after a so-so approach.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger takes driver and pounds it just to the right of the fairway. It's go time. His approach settles hole-high, about 18 feet to the right of the cup. He misses his birdie putt to the left, a bit frustrated with par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy misses a 12-footer for birdie at No. 17, settling for a par to stay at 1 over. Luke Donald has a birdie and a bogey with six pars to stay at even.

• • •

Hole No. 16, Par 4, 372 yards

Tiger and Rory seem to be chumming it up on the course, walking the fairways together at times, chatting along the way. They seem very comfortable with each other.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger in the fairway at the short par-4. Wedge into the green will be the club of choice with the second. With a tough pin on a slope, Tiger gets his approach to about 25 feet. And he buries the putt for his third birdie in his opening seven holes.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy bombs his drive at No. 16, gets his approach to 30 feet and two-putts for a par. Meanwhile, Webb Simpson has opened his round with three consecutive birdie to move into a tie for the lead with Keegan Bradley at 3 under.

• • •

Hole No. 15, Par 3, 175 yards

McIlroy and Tiger make a mess of Nos. 13 and 14, and will need to get back on track at a course that is producing some red numbers on Thursday.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger hits a solid tee ball, settling just off the green and has about 15 feet for birdie. Tiger can't get his birdie attempt to drop, but settles for an easy par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy picks up his first birdie of the day after sticking his tee ball to about 8 feet. Moves to 1 over.

• • •

Hole No. 14, Par 4, 460 yards

Hole wrap-up: Tiger goes over the green with his approach and then chunks his chip shot, getting up-and-down from there for a second consecutive bogey. Ugly third shot sends Tiger back to even after a great start.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even

Elsewhere on the course: Rory McIlroy also posts back-to-back bogeys, falling to 2 over for the tournament. Keegan Bradley is 3 under through 7 holes to take the early, outright lead.

• • •

Hole No. 13, Par 3, 245 yards

Hole wrap-up: For his first par 3 of the day, Tiger leaves it on the front part of the green as the pin placement is in the back making it an extra long hole. He three-putts for bogey after hitting the hole with his par putt, but it was way too hard. The momentum has stopped.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under

Elsewhere on the course: Too much of a hook on his tee shot, Rory is off the green from the tee. He proceeds to chip up and leaves it at a long distance for par. He cannot make it and just like Tiger, Rory makes bogey and goes to 1 over on the day. Donald is the only player in the group to make par. He remains at even par.

• • •

Hole No. 12, Par 5, 603 yards

Hole wrap-up: Tiger rips a drive, but finds the left rough after his driver didn't cut enough for him. Luckily, it's a par 5. After laying up and finding the fairway with his second shot, Tiger drops in a beauty of a wedge shot. With his close look at birdie, Tiger moves to 2 under through three holes.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2 under

Elsewhere on the course:: Thought Tiger was long? Rory absolutely crushed his driver and found the fairway. He went super long. He decided to lay up with his second, but it didn't pan out according to plan. He has a longer look at birdie, but again two-putts for par. Donald laid up for his second shot and will have a long putt for birdie and can't convert. He stays at even par along with Rory.

• • •

Hole No. 11, Par 4, 402 yards

Hole wrap-up: Tiger finds the left part of the fairway, which is a good thing because the middle is filled with bunkers. On the green in two, Tiger finds the bottom of the cup for a birdie at the 11th.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under

Elsewhere on the course: Luke Donald bounces back with a long birdie putt on No. 11 to get it back to even par. Rory, who found the fairway, but unlike Tiger, he was on the right side. He hit his second shot to the back of the green and two-putted for another par.

• • •

Hole No. 10, Par 5, 551 yards

Hole wrap-up: Starting in No. 10 today, with his first tee shot of the day, Tiger places it perfectly in the fairway. After missing the green with his second shot, Tiger chipped up and two-putted for par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even

Elsewhere on the course: Tiger is playing with World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and former World No. 1 Luke Donald. McIlroy, who last week WD'd from the Honda Classic, starts off with an up and down bunker save for par. Donald went in the water for his first shot of the day. He took a penalty shot right off the bat and starts with a bogey.
