California is putting together an impressive season, but here are some more numbers for you to wrap your head around…
3: Number of competitive rounds after which the Golden Bears have not led. They have played nine tournaments so far this season.
7: Number of Cal medalists in the team's past seven tournaments. Michael Kim has won four times, Joel Stalter twice and Brandon Hagy once.
8: Tournament victories for the Golden Bears this season.
33: Highest individual ranking among Cal's top five players. Cal claims the two top players in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings in Michael Kim (No. 1) and Joel Stalter (No. 2). Michael Weaver (No. 21), Brandon Hagy (No. 32) and Max Homa (No. 33) round out the top five.
44: Number of strokes below par Michael Kim has played Cal's nine tournaments this season. He has finished in the top 10 in all nine tournaments this season, and has won medalist honors in four of his last five starts.
52: Number of career titles for head coach Steve Desimone. His 50th title came at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
109: Total number of shots by which Cal has won its eight titles this season.
139: Total number of strokes below par Cal has played its nine tournaments this season.
With eight wins on the season, the Golden Bears will try to gain ground on the record-holding Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Cowboys won 10 events during the 1985-86 season. With five possible starts remaining this season (including the NCAA Regional and NCAA Championships), Cal could get there.
