Mississippi St., Ramey sweep titles at Tiger Invite

Mississippi State won its second tournament of the year at the Tiger Invitational on Tuesday at Grand National’s Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.
The Bulldogs claimed the victory by seven shots after shooting rounds of 292-300-297. Their first-round 4-over 292 was the low 18-hole team score of the tournament.
Memphis finished second at 896. Tournament host Auburn, No. 21 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, finished third at 35-over 899. South Alabama finished one shot back of Auburn. Kentucky, Chattanooga and Houston were part of a three-way tie for fifth at 37 over.
Mississippi State junior Chad Ramey claimed medalist honors for the first time this season. This is his fourth top-5 finish of the season. He shot 72-71-70 to finish at 3-under 213. Ramey was the only player to finish under par.
Auburn’s Niclas Carlsson finished in second, three shots behind Ramey. Memphis’ Will Pearson and Chattanooga’s Benjamin Weilguni finished in a tie for third at 2-over 218.
