Purdue rallies past Vanderbilt to win Lady Jaguar

Purdue edged second-round leader Vanderbilt in Sunday’s final round of the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate to win a second team title this season. The Boilermakers finished at 12-over 876, one shot ahead of the Commodores.
Purdue also won the Lady Jaguar in 2011. The event is played at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Purdue finished third at the event last year. The Boilermakers are ranked No. 15 by Golfweek.
Senior Paula Reto led the team with a season-low 68 in the final round. Reto opened with an 80, but rebounded with rounds of 69-68 to finish second individually. Teammates Laura Gonzalez and Margaux Vanmol were the next lowest Boilermakers, in a share of seventh at 5-over 221. Kishi Sinha finished T-9.
For Vanderbilt, a runner-up finish at the Lady Jaguar means a third second-place finish in three consecutive starts. Vanderbilt is No. 12 in Golfweek’s rankings.
Notre Dame was third, 11 shots behind Notre Dame, and Texas was fourth, another 11 shots behind that. Host Augusta State finished fifth.
Notre Dame’s Ashley Armstrong won the individual title at 1-under 215, two shots ahead of Reto.
