Rory McIlroy continued his success at the Wells Fargo Championship on Thursday.

McIlroy, who won the event in 2010 and then lost to Rickie Fowler in a playoff last year, shot a 5-under 67 and enters the second round in a seven-way tie for the lead with Ryan Moore, Nick Watney, Daniel Summerhays, Nate Smith, Robert Garrigus and Derek Ernst. Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson are among those one shot back.

Helped by a stretch of six birdies in seven holes (Nos. 5-11), McIlroy posted his sixth round in the 60s this season on Tour.

Fowler, the defending champion, shot even-par 72, as did other notables Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia and Martin Kaymer.
