The University of Michigan announced the hiring of Jan Dowling as the new head women’s golf coach. Dowling is the fifth coach in the 37-year history of the program.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Jan Dowling as the leader of our women's golf program," said Dave Brandon, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. "Jan has a tremendous coaching and golf background which will be a great asset to our program. We look forward to the program's development under Jan's direction."

"I am honored to be leading the Michigan women's golf team, and want to thank Athletic Director David Brandon for this tremendous opportunity," said Dowling. "Michigan is world renowned for both academics and athletics, which makes the potential for this program endless. Further, I was extremely impressed with the first class golf facilities and commitment to the program on every level possible. The future of the program is very bright and I am very excited to lead this team to new heights."

In 2012-13, Dowling served as an assistant coach at Tennessee. Prior to the joining Tennessee, Dowling was the head coach at Florida. She also spent time at Duke and Kent State.

Dowling is a Bradford, Ontatio, native and a 2002 graduate of Kent State. She played three years on the Symetra and Canadian Tour.
