Canadian Pacific to sponsor Canada LPGA stop

Looks like Lydia Ko will be able to vie for a three-peat next year: The Canadian Women’s Open has secured a new title sponsor for 2014, Golfweek has learned.

A source tells Golfweek that another railway company – Canadian Pacific – will back the event next year. Ko, of course, won the last two Canadian Women’s Opens at ages 15 and 16.

CN, the Canadian National Railway Company, had sponsored the event the last eight years, running a first-class tournament for the LPGA.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, CP has 14,700 miles of track in Canada and was incorporated in 1881.
