ANTALYA, Turkey –– Evening storms on Wednesday lasted through Thursday morning, delaying the start of the first round of the Turkish Airlines Open at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal.

What started as a one-hour delay quickly was extended to three hours with all 78 players hoping to get on a golf course that according to officials was underwater.

With organizers hoping to start at 12:05 p.m. local time (5:05 a.m. EST), the delay will force the completion of the first round to Friday.

The postponement would move the pairing of Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose to 2:05 p.m. local time (7:05 a.m. EST).

The forecast for the remainder of the week is devoid of any rain and would allow the $7 million tournament to conclude on Sunday.
