Tiger Woods in action during the completion of the first round of the Turkish Airlines Open at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Course in Antalya, Turkey.

Tiger Woods had to play 26 holes of golf on Friday at the Turkish Airlines Open, but he made them count.

The World No. 1 fired a bogey-free, 9-under 63 to vault from T-47 at the end of the first round to fifth and just one shot off the lead held by Henrik Stenson (68), Ian Poulter (66), Justin Walters (66) and Victor Dubuisson (65).

We followed Friday's action at Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Antalya, Turkey, all day long – take a look at how it all happened on Friday:

• • •

ROUND 2

Hole No. 18: Par 5, 558 yards

Tiger gets back to within two of Victor Dubuisson with that birdie on 17.

Off the tee: Fairway metal here and he puts it on the left side of the fairway. Should be able to get after it in two.

Second shot: With just over 250 yards into the green, Tiger attacks and finds a greenside bunker.

Around the green: Great sand shot here, leaving himself 4 feet for a closing birdie.

On the green: He knocks in the putt for his ninth birdie of the round.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 9 under (11 under for tournament)

Elsewhere on the course: Ian Poulter fires a second consecutive 66 and is in the clubhouse at 12 under, tied for the lead with Victor Dubuisson and Henrik Stenson.

• • •

Hole No. 17: Par 4, 392 yards

Tiger has missed three birdie putts inside of 10 feet, which could have made this round potentially historic.

Off the tee: With fairway wood in hand, Tiger hugs the left side and settles in the rough.

Approach shot: Fantastic second shot, sticking pin-high and about 4 feet to the left. Another great look at birdie.

On the green: Tiger makes the short putt for his eighth birdie of the round.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 8 under (10 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 16: Par 3, 168 yards

Tiger remains two back, now behind Henrik Stenson, Victor Dubuisson and Ian Poulter.

Off the tee: Another stellar tee ball on a par 3 for Tiger, settling 10 feet under the hole.

On the green: Tiger hits it a bit too firm and it runs through the break, settling for a disappointing par.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 7 under (9 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 15: Par 4, 337 yards

That is back-to-back birdie misses that could have put Tiger into a tie for the lead. Now he trails by three, with Victor Dubuisson moving to 11 under, while Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson are at 10 under.

Off the tee: Tiger doesn't mess around here, using long iron and splitting the fairway. At some point this week, it might be tempting for him to go after the green.

Approach shot: Tiger's strategy works just fine, settling 5 feet under the hole.

On the green: Tiger calmly drains this one and he moves to within two of the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 7 under (9 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 14: Par 3, 176 yards

Tiger will definitely think back on the last two par 5s as opportunities missed, regardless of how low he has gone thus far today.

Off the tee: Tiger hits a very nice tee ball that sticks about 8 feet under the hole.

On the green: Tiger pushes the birdie putt past the hole and he settles for a par, two shots back of Henrik Stenson and Victor Dubuisson.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 6 under (8 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 13: Par 5, 564 yards

That wasn't a pretty hole, but Tiger managed to salvage par and not lose any ground to the top of the leaderboard.

Off the tee: The big stick again – the third consecutive hole – and Tiger finds the left side of the fairway, although he doesn't look happy about it.

Second shot: Tiger goes after it, but misses the green and will need to scramble to pick up another birdie.

Around the green: Tiger plays a moderate flop shot from the rough on the right of the green and leaves himself 15 feet for birdie.

On the green: Tiger doesn't start the birdie attempt high enough and he settles for a par on another par 5. Only 1 under on the long holes thus far in the second round.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 6 under (8 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 12: Par 4, 490 yards

Tiger has played three par 5s thus far in the second round, and has only one birdie to show for it – yet is 6 under on his round.

Off the tee: For the second consecutive hole, Tiger pulls driver and he overcooks it a bit to the left and into the rough.

Approach shot: From the thick rough, Tiger simply hacks it out and comes up 20 yards short of the green.

Around the green: Tiger manages to get it close with his third and save par to remain two off the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 6 under (8 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 11: Par 5, 570 yards

What a run Tiger finds himself on right now, as he has made three birdie putts of more than 15 feet in picking up six birdies thus far in the round – and he still has three par 5s to go.

Off the tee: The big stick comes out here and Tiger pummels the ball, as it bounds through the fairway and catches the rough at the end of the fairway and in front of a bunker.

Second shot: An awkward lie in the rough forces Tiger to simply lay up within wedge range.

Approach shot: Tiger hits a fantastic wedge shot to about 6 feet right of the pin.

On the green: Tiger pulls this putt to the left and he misses a golden opportunity for a birdie, but remains two back of Victor Dubuisson.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 6 under (8 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 10: Par 4, 362 yards

That was a very good front nine for Tiger, as he has taken a six-shot deficit and made it three after Victor Dubuisson and George Coetzee both move to 10 under.

Off the tee: Again the shortest of the group, but finds the fairway and will be able to attack the short par 4.

Approach shot: Tiger gets a lot of air on this one and sticks it about 18 feet under the hole.

On the green: Moments after Stenson buried a 20-footer for birdie, Tiger does the same and is now within two of the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 6 under (8 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 9: Par 4, 446 yards

Tiger is now just three off the lead after Victor Dubuisson drops a shot on No. 17 to fall back to 9 under.

Off the tee: A fairway hit here for Tiger, although he is the shortest of the group on this hole.

Approach shot: A great shot here from Tiger, hitting a slope just right of the flag and it trickles down to about 5 feet above the hole.

On the green: Tiger has a delicate putt, but reads it perfectly, with the ball just squeezing into the left edge and he is now just two off the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 5 under (7 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 8: Par 3, 182 yards

Four birdies and three pars through seven holes thus far for Tiger, a start that he needed after fumbling on the final hole of the first round.

Off the tee: Another solid tee ball here, sending it about 20 feet past the hole.

On the green: Tiger makes a great read on his putt, but it settles on the lip and he has to settle for a par. He thought he had that one, as he muttered to himself after the ball came to rest.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 4 under (6 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 7: Par 4, 459 yards

This is quite a run Tiger has gone on to vault himself up the leaderboard, although he still trails by four.

Off the tee: Tiger sends his tee ball to the right, although he should have a clear path to the pin on the right.

Approach shot: With just over 155 yards left into the green, Tiger muscles it out of the rough and finds the front edge of the green, about 25 feet under the hole.

On the green: Tiger's birdie attempt runs past on the left of the hole by about 2 feet. He knocks that in for a par.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 4 under (6 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 6: Par 4, 482 yards

Scoring conditions are far tougher today with sustained winds of between 10 to 15 mph. Tiger's birdie run has definitely helped him gain on the field.

Off the tee: Tiger takes fairway metal here again and sends it up the right side, where it kicks from the fairway and into the rough. Another unlucky bounce.

Approach shot: Tiger plays a nice shot here, landing and sticking it about 20 feet beyond the hole.

On the green: Tiger gets aggressive here with a bit of pace on the putt and it pays off, finding the back of the cup and he picks up his fourth birdie in his opening six holes.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 4 under (6 under for tournament)

Elsewhere on the course: Victor Dubuisson adds a birdie at No. 16 to open a two-shot lead on the field at 10 under.

• • •

Hole No. 5: Par 3, 224 yards

While the back nine features three par 5s, the front nine has three par 3s. Tiger steps up to his second of the second round here.

Off the tee: Tiger has to back off the tee ball one time because of some noise in his backswing, and then barely gets it to the green and leaves himself near 40 feet for birdie.

On the green: Tiger's birdie streak comes to an end, but a solid two-putt for a par keeps him four off the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (5 under for tournament)

Elsewhere on the course: There is a new solo leader, as Victor Dubuisson has moved to 9 under behind a birdie at No. 13. He is 4 under through five holes in the second round, as he started on No. 10.

• • •

Hole No. 4: Par 5, 576 yards

There is quite a logjam on the tee at the 4th hole, with both Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood just teeing off as Woods, Rose and Stenson get to the tee box.

Off the tee: Tiger takes fairway wood here and simply guides it down the middle of the fairway.

Second shot: After waiting a long time in the fairway for the green to clear, Tiger launches a fairway metal into the green and lands about 10 feet from the hole and trickles just off the green, leaving himself 25 feet for eagle.

Around the green: A bit of an unlucky bounce after that nice second shot, pushing Tiger to putt with a fairway metal from the collar of the rough, sending it about 3 feet past on the left.

On the green: He knocks the short birdie putt in for his third consecutive birdie.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (5 under for tournament)

Elsewhere on the course: There is now a four-way tie for the lead at 8 under between Thorbjorn Olesen, Henrik Stenson, Justin Walters and Victor Dubuisson. The biggest move of the round thus far belongs to Wen-chong Liang, who is 5 under through 11 holes on the round and 6 under overall. Liang has birdied four consecutive holes.

• • •

Hole No. 3: Par 4, 369 yards

That was a nice rebound hole from Tiger at No. 2, getting into the red on the round after faltering at the opening par 5.

Off the tee: Tiger takes fairway wood, but overcooks it to the left and finds the long rough. Posed on that one like he liked it, but it is a bad result.

Approach shot: Despite finding the rough, Tiger hits a fantastic second shot into the green, leaving himself 10 feet for another birdie.

On the green: Tiger takes his time with the read again, and drains another one and is now just four off the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 2 under (4 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 2: Par 3, 162 yards

Tiger is all of a sudden struggling on par 5s, picking up bogey on his final hole of the first round and failing to capitalize on another one to start the second round.

Off the tee: Tiger gets his tee ball in tight, leaving himself about 6 feet for birdie.

On the green: Tiger takes his time studying the putt and hits a perfect putt into the throat of the cup.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 1 under (3 under for tournament)

• • •

Hole No. 1: Par 5, 571 yards

And off we go for the second round, with Tiger having basically 35 to 40 minutes in between rounds. Tiger is wearing a white top to start the round.

Hole wrap-up: Tiger fails to take advantage of another scoring hole, remaining six shots back of Henrik Stenson, Thorbjorn Olesen and Justin Walters.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: Even (2 under for tournament)

• • •

ROUND 1 COMPLETION

Hole No. 18: Par 5, 558 yards

Henrik Stenson has enjoyed another nice day playing alongside Tiger, picking up birdie at No. 17 to move to 7 under and one shot off the lead held by Darren Fichardt.

Hole wrap-up: After finding the right rough off the tee, Tiger can't manage to pick up a third birdie on the back nine, instead picking up a bogey after finding water with his second shot and settles for a 2-under 70.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 2 under (thru 18)

Elsewhere on the course: Thorbjorn Olesen starts his second round with a birdie at the par-5 1st and is also at 7 under.

• • •

Hole No. 17: Par 4, 392 yards

This has been a fairly methodic round by Tiger, with four birdies and a bogey. Nothing too exciting, a few nice up-and-downs, but no real hot streaks that have pushed him closer to the lead.

Hole wrap-up: After missing the fairway and the green, Tiger chips his third close at the short par 4 and scrambles for a fourth consecutive par.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (thru 17)

Elsewhere on the course: Play has already begun in the second round, with Ross Fisher going 1 under through two holes to move to 5 under and three off the lead. All tee times remained the same from Round 1.

Tiger has this par 3, a short par 4 and then a finishing par 5 as he tries to create some momentum heading into the second round later this morning.

Hole wrap-up: That's three consecutive pars for Tiger Woods, staying at 3 under behind a two-putt par at 16. The final two holes do present a pair of scoring opportunities.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (thru 16)

Elsewhere on the course: Ian Poulter has caught fire on the back nine, picking up his fourth birdie on the incoming nine at the par-3 16th to move to 6 under and just two off the lead, with the par-5 18th yet to come.

Hole No. 15: Par 4, 337 yards

There are some impressive names with Tiger at 3 under, including Charl Schwartzel, Francesco Molinari, Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (thru 15)

Elsewhere on the course: Darren Fichardt is in the clubhouse with an 8-under 64, currently a shot ahead of the field. Thorbjorn Olesen is two shots back with six others after a 6-under 66.

• • •

Hole No. 14: Par 3, 176 yards

Tiger is looking like vintage Tiger on the par 5s, picking up three birdies to keep himself in this tournament early.

Hole wrap-up: A par here for Tiger, who did birdie the par-3 8th as his only other non-par 5 birdie of the day. Tiger is five shots off the lead.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (thru 14)

Elsewhere on the course: Ian Poulter birdies Nos. 13 and 14 ahead of Tiger and has moved to 5 under for the tournament. Meanwhile, we have a solo leader for the moment in Darren Fichardt, who birdies No. 6 to get to 8 under. Falling two strokes back was Paul Casey after an unfortunate bogey at the par-5 18th to end his round, carding a 6-under 66.

• • •

Hole No. 13: Par 5, 564 yards

The back nine features three par 5s, as Tiger heads to the second of the three. He is 2 under on the day on the long holes, failing to birdie No. 4.

Hole wrap-up: Make that three out of four for Tiger Woods, who picks up another birdie on a par 5 to move to within four of the lead. Tiger has birdied three of his last six holes. He is now T-35.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 3 under (thru 13)

Elsewhere on the course: There are only 11 players in the 78-player field that are over par thus far in the first round, but that includes both Louis Oosthuizen and Nicolas Colsaerts at 1 over. There is also an impressive list at just even, including Matteo Manassero, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Colin Montgomerie and Justin Rose.

• • •

Hole No. 12: Par 4, 490 yards

That's two birdies in his past four holes for Tiger Woods, but is still five shots back of four players at 7 under.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 2 under (thru 12)

Elsewhere on the course: Former Oklahoma State star Peter Uihlein is just one off the lead at 6 under as he chases his second European Tour victory of the season.

Off the tee: Driver here for Tiger and he splits the fairway.

Second shot: With 3-wood, Tiger goes the green in two and just misses right. Good shot from Tiger, who liked that shot right away. Shortly after, the players decide to mark their balls due to the darkness and they'll finish things up early Friday morning.

Around the green: Tiger chips to about 3 feet and calmly makes his third birdie of the day.

TIGER ON THE ROUND: 2 under (thru 11)

Elsewhere on the course: Henrik Stenson hits the par-5 11th in two and two-putts for a birdie and is now 5 under.
