Euro Tour players hit golf balls from 22 stories up
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
A week after Tiger Woods hit golf balls on the Bosporus Bridge in Istanbul, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood and other European Tour players teed it up from the 22nd-floor balcony of the Royal Bridge Suite at the Atlantis hotel in Dubai.
Their target? A floating green about 225 yards away.
The first couple of shots missed the mark, splashing into the Persian Gulf below. But in the end, it was Westwood's ball ending up closer than the other three balls on the green – but not by much.
A shirtless Ian Poulter showed up to determine the winner, declaring Westwood's ball to be about 4 feet away from the hole, just inside of Stenson's ball.
Other participants included Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer and David Howell, who will all tee it up at this week's European Tour season finale, the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
