“It’s quite the award to receive, especially watching the profiles of the women who have paved the way for women’s golf. I’m honored,” Sorenstam said.

PGA of America president Ted Bishop was on hand to hand out the award said, “(she is) arguably the greatest player in the history of modern-day golf on the LPGA Tour.”

Some other women who have been honored with the award include Barbara Nicklaus (1998), Nacy Lopez (2002), Kathy Withworth (2006) and Peggy Kirk Bell (2007).
