Phil Mickelson has already said he plans to reduce his playing schedule in 2014. One event he won't drop, though, is the Scottish Open.

Mickelson announced Wednesday that he plans to compete in the July 10-13 event at Royal Aberdeen. He won the tournament last season at Castle Stuart before going on to win the Open Championship the following week.

“Winning the Scottish Open was a huge factor in my success the next week at the Open Championship,” Mickelson said in a release. “I was able to acclimate myself to the time change, the weather, the wind, the links conditions and all in the heat of serious competition, which itself was a big added plus.”
