Oklahoma set to host Schooner Fall Classic

The Schooner Fall Classic is set to take place at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., Oct. 5-7.

Belmar GC is owned by country music superstar Toby Keith.

The event will welcome 15 teams – Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Texas State, Denver, Georgia, Florida State, Kentucky, Pepperdine, LSU, SMU and Kent State.

Of the 15 teams, four are ranked inside the top 10 of the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, as host Oklahoma comes in at as the fourth-ranked team. Other teams are Pepperdine (sixth), Oklahoma State (seventh) and Arizona State (eighth).

Pepperdine’s Marissa Chow is ranked sixth, and teammate Grace Na is ninth in the rankings.

The event is being hosted by Keith and Trish Covel. Covel has brought in Juli Inkster as the special guest for the Oct. 4th dinner, which will be held at the OU football stadium. Also in attendance will be Angela Stanford, Stacy Prammanasudh, Janice Gipson and Stephanie Brecht.

The tournament will benefit the Toby Keith Foundation and the Oklahoma Kids Korral.
