Two was the number for the Illinois men's golf team, which notched back-to-back victories for the second time in its last six events and broke the school's 18-hole scoring record in two of the three rounds at the Macdonald Cup Oct. 6 in New Haven, Conn.

The Illini's victory at the Macdonald Cup follows a season-opening win at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. Illinois also won consecutive tournaments near the end of last spring, capturing Big Ten and NCAA Regional championships.

Illinois set a new school record during the first round in New Haven by shooting an 11-under 269. It then bested that 18-hole total with a 12-under 268 in the final round.

Junior Brian Campbell won the individual title with a school-record 13-under 197 total, breaking Scott Langley's previous 54-hole mark by four shots. It also is believed to be the second lowest 54-hole total in Big Ten history, only behind Jeff Overton's 192 for Indiana at the 2004 Xavier Invitational.

And here's one more record: Illinois' 33-under 807 broke the school's 54-hole team scoring record by 24 strokes.
