Portland State handed recently hired coach Kailin Downs her first tournament victory with a school record-setting triumph Oct. 9 at the Price’s Give ’Em Five Intercollegiate at New Mexico State’s Championship course in Las Cruces.

The Vikings finished at 3-over 867 for a five-shot victory over UC Irvine. The 867 total broke the school scoring record by four shots.

A Ram Choi lead Portland State with a closing 5-under 67 to win medalist honors at 8-under 208. Choi’s 67 matched the school’s single-round record that she shared with Britney Yada. Choi’s 8-under total broke Yada’s previous mark of 6 under, set at the 2011 Big Sky Championship.

Portland State’s Riley Leming and Cincinnati’s Olivia Dose tied for second at 214. Madison Bentley (T-17) and Kelly Miller (T-23) also had top-25 finishes for Portland State.
