Lexi Thompson shot a 5-under 66 during the third round of the LPGA Malaysia to take a three-shot lead over South Korea’s Ilhee Lee at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club’s East course.

Thompson, 18, had a five birdies in her bogey free round to get to 17-under 196 for the tournament. Lee held the 36-hole lead, but carded a 70 in the third round. Suzann Pettersen is another three shots back of Lee in a tie for third with Shanshan Feng of China.

Thompson is looking for her second career LPGA title and first since the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic.

"I felt really well going into today, I had a good practice session before my round, so I was pretty confident," Thompson said. "Every player wants to go into the final round with a lead."
