Final results

USC’s season remained flawless Oct. 27 as the Trojans won for the third time this fall at the Stanford Intercollegiate. It’s the sixth consecutive victory for USC, dating to last spring’s postseason sweep. The Trojans set a school record with both of those streaks (most victories to start a season as well as most consecutive victories).

To claim the Stanford title, USC, No. 2 in Golfweek’s college rankings, had to hold off Pac-12 adversary UCLA, No. 1. The Bruins outscore USC by three shots in the final round and four shots in the second round, but USC had built a large cushion in Round 1 with an 8-under 276. It was 12 shots better than UCLA, and six shots better than the next best team (Washington).

At 21-under 831, USC finished five shots ahead of UCLA. Washington was next at 1-under 851, followed by tournament-host Stanford, in fourth at 3-over 855.

USC, which entered the Stanford event with its third different starting five in as many events, has now won 10 of its past 11 starts.

USC senior Sophia Popov broke a trio of individual record as she chased the sixth individual title of her career. Popov set 18-, 36- and 72-hole program scoring records with her 6-under 207 (66-67-74), but came up one shot short of medalist Alison Lee, a UCLA freshman. Lee, Golfweek’s top-ranked player, edged Popov by one shot.
