Bourdy rallies past Uihlein for Wales Open title

Gregory Bourdy celebrates after holing a birdie putt on the 17th green on his way to victory in the ISPS Handa Wales Open.

Gregory Bourdy finished with a flurry, picking up birdie on his final three holes to secure a two-shot victory over American and 54-hole leader Peter Uihlein at the Wales Open.

Bourdy began the round three shots back of Uihlein, but an early eagle at No. 2 and then his birdie binge capped a 4-under 67 that left him at 8 under overall.

It was Bourdy's first win in more than four years.

Uihlein posted a 1-over 72 in the final round to miss out on his second European Tour victory of the season. He had a chance to force a playoff on 18 after picking up birdies on Nos. 15 and 17, but three-putted the 18th green to finish solo second.

Uihlein's roommate and fellow American Brooks Koepka finished T-18 after a final-round 69 left him 1 over for the tournament.
