Steven Fox, the 2012 U.S. Amateur champ and a standout at Tennessee-Chattanooga, is turning pro and plans to go through Q-School for the Web.com Tour this fall, he said in a statement through his agent.

"I’ve been preparing for this moment my entire life," Fox said Friday via a news release from Meister Sports Management. "I’ve learned many things over the last year and will treasure it always, but I’m ready to embark on something new and create even bigger headlines.”

Most recently, Fox won the 2013 Tennessee State Amateur by five shots to complete a trio of career Volunteer State titles along with the 2008 Junior Amateur and the 2011 Match Play.

Fox also played in several pro tournaments this year, including three majors – all but the PGA Championship – but did not make a cut in the Masters, U.S. Open or Open Championship.
