Qualifying for the NCCGA National Championship has long been the goal of all collegiate club golf teams across the country. With a national championship capping off every semester, the top club-golf teams based on their performance in NCCGA’s 18 Regions earn the opportunity to represent their Region in the national spotlight. Each NCCGA region hosts two weekend tournaments per semester, as the lowest-scoring team earns a bid to nationals.

The NCCGA National Championship is always the highlight of the season as it’s hosted at a premium venue. Past championships have been held at Pinehurst, The Homestead, Sea Island, and Kampen Course. In recent years, East Carolina University and East Tennessee State University have dominated – taking home three and two titles respectively. Tom Duty’s (East Carolina) 70-73–143, 1-over performance in Fall 2012 at Sea Island and Matt Smith’s (ETSU) 70-69–139, 1-under in Spring 2012 at The Homestead were some memorable tournament finishes that encapsulated the talent displayed at these championships.

The 2013 Fall National Championship will be held at Barefoot Resort, in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. This venue will provide a unique challenge, lending itself to picturesque views, well-placed bunkers and numerous water hazards.

The NCCGA has increased from 90 to 165 teams since its spring season. As a result, the previous national-championship field of 14 teams will increase to 24 teams to accommodate the growth. The Barefoot Resort Dye and Love courses will play host to the season’s final event, with half the players competing on each course each day.

With all of the growth, the competition this fall at Barefoot will surely be the most exciting National Championship to date. East Carolina and ETSU will have their hands full to continue their recent success. Teams continue to get stronger semester by semester and it will be a real test for all of those teams at the NCCGA 2013 Fall National Championship.
