Wisconsin rally earns Lady Paladin victory
Wisconsin got scores of 70 or below from three players and shot a 7-under 281 in the final round to rally for a two-shot victory over Clemson at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
Georgia Regents led Clemson by five shots and Wisconsin by 11 going into the final round, but the Badgers stormed from behind thanks to a 4-under 68 by freshman Brooke Ferrell, a 69 by senior Alexis Nelson and a 70 from senior Kris Yoo. The Badgers finished at 1-over 865 at Furman University Golf Club, followed by Clemson (289-867) and Georgia Regents (297-870).
Clemson, in its first season, was victimized by a final-round comeback for the second time in as many events. The Tigers led after 36 holes at the season-opening Cougar Classic, but lost by one stroke after Florida also rallied with a 7-under final round to win the title.
Clemson freshman Ashlan Ramsey, however, did win the Tigers' first-ever individual title, shooting rounds of 68-71-70 for a 7-under 209 total and a three-shot victory over Eunice Yi of Georgia Regents. Clemson's Sloan Shanahan and Wisconsin's Yoo tied for third at 213. The Badgers' Ferrell finished fifth at 214.
