Peter Uihlein takes lead at Alfred Dunhill Links
Peter Uihlein used a 7-under 65 Saturday at the Old Course at St. Andrews to move into the lead after three rounds of the Alfred Dunhill Link Championship.
Uihlein, who fired a 12-under 60 at Kingsbarns on Friday, made six birdies on his first 10 holes before bogeys at Nos. 11 and 13. He then added a birdie at No. 14 before closing his round with an eagle at the par-4 18th.
Shane Lowry, Ernie Els and Martin Kaymer are part of a six-way tie for second at 18 under. Kaymer shot 9-under 63 at St. Andrews while Lowry bogeyed his final hole at Carnoustie to end up with an 8-under 64. Els carded a 64 at St. Andrews.
Joost Luiten, David Howell and Richard McEvoy are also 18 under.
Uihlein was one of only two Americans to make the cut this week in Scotland. Brooks Koepka (11 under) is the other.
Among those missing the cut are former Alabama standout Justin Thomas, Vijay Singh, David Duval, Paul Lawrie, Ken Duke and Louis Oosthuizen, who played the three courses in 5-under 211 in his first start since the Open Championship.
The final round will be played Sunday at St. Andrews.
