Virginia, No. 13 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, ran away with the Jim West Intercollegiate title on Tuesday.

After finishing Day 1 at 36 under, the Cavaliers shot 9-under 279 in the final-round at TPC Craig Ranch for a 29-shot victory.

At 45 under, Virginia posted the second best – in relation to par – score in ACC history.

“It’s hard to put into words how well they played over two days,” said head coach Bowen Sargent in a release. “It was impressive from top to bottom. Everybody played well pretty much every round.”

Iowa State finished in second at 16 under after a 7-over 295 in the final round. Louisiana-Monroe placed third at 12 under. Sam Houston State finished in fourth at 7 under and another shot back in fifth place was Texas-Arlington.

Virginia’s David Pastore and Denny McCarthy tied for medalist honors at 13-under 203 on the par-72, 7,417-yard course. Pastore, who shot a final-round 6-under 66, won the individual title on first playoff hole.

Arkansas-Little Rock’s Matias Calderon and Houston Baptist’s Preston Stanley tied for third at 11-under 205.
