Masters 2014: What's on tap for Wednesday

Patrons walk in front of a leaderboard near the first fairway during a practice round prior to the start of the 2014 Masters.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Ah, Masters Wednesday – or simply the calm before the storm.

But that doesn't mean that Wednesday doesn't have its fair share of flare, especially with the spectacle that is the Par 3 Contest, slated to start at noon. Now, we'd tell you who is playing, when they're teeing off, what celebrities might be carrying some sticks today – but that's all a mystery until they show up on the first tee. We'll be as pleasantly surprised as you are. (Follow all the action with our Par 3 Tracker by clicking here)

With Monday's washout, it will also be interesting to see if a few more players hit the course to get a bit more practice in. The course has definitely firmed up a bit and the weather looks gorgeous for today, with highs reaching 72 and only a slight chance for some precipitation in the mid-afternoon.

As for official business, Masters chairman Billy Payne will host his annual press conference at 11 a.m. EDT to address club business and whatever questions the media might have about the tournament. Topics of discussion could include the wildly successful Drive, Chip & Putt National Championship and the course damage during a winter ice storm.
