Justin Thomas leads Web.com Tour event in Mexico

Justin Thomas – shown here at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open – holds the 36-hole lead at the Web.com Tour's El Bosque Mexico Championship.

Former Alabama All-American Justin Thomas leads at the Web.com Tour’s El Bosque Mexico Championship.

Thomas, a native of Goshen, Ky., shot rounds of 66-70 to take a one-shot lead over Nathan Green and Sam Saunders at El Bosque Country Club in Leon, Mexico.

“I’ve just been staying really patient and really calm,” Thomas said in a Web.com Tour release. “I’m just trying to hit each shot the best I can … I know I’ve put everything into it.”

Thomas is looking for his first professional victory of his career. The 20-year-old – who will turn 21 on the 29th of this month – has played in four Web.com events this year and has finished no worse than T-15.

Other notables: Daniel Berger (T-4, 6 under); Bud Cauley and Colt Knost (T-12, 3 under); Kelly Kraft and Casey Wittenberg (T-20, 2 under); Edward Loar (T-35, even par); Blayne Barber and T.J. Vogel (T-50, 1 over).
