Lots of things have happened since my last blog entry. My experience at the Kraft Nabisco was really fun. No I did not make the cut, but what can you do? Prepare, work hard, and play!
After the Kraft Nabisco I spent two days in school and then left again for St. Louis for the official practice session for the Curtis Cup. The Curtis Cup is not until the first week in June, but our team got together and played some.
My experience was amazing. All the girls on the team really got along well. We have all known each other for a long time, and it was a cool weekend. We had team bonding, played in different pairings, ate great food, and just hung out with different people in St. Louis. It was all a great experience and after the practice session we all wished that we were about to actually play in the Curtis Cup. To say the least, the team is really excited.
When I got back from the practice session, I went to school for a total of three days and then left again for the SEC tournament. Last year our team won, but this year it did not go so well. We had a rough start and it was hard to get back up to the top. Every day we went up some spots, but we were fourth at the end. Vanderbilt won the team event and a girl on their team won the individual honor.
I think our team is getting better, and we all have things we can work on before regionals. We will not find out our bid on regionals until next weekend. We are very excited and ready to get back out there!! All we have left is regionals and hopefully nationals. When we got back from the SEC championship, we had an athletic banquet – where they award different athletes for good grades, good spirit, performance, and several other nice awards. I was so blessed to receive the Newcomer of the Year which covered the 2013 season. It was really an honor to win the award with all the great athletes at the University of Alabama. Several of my friends were nominated as well.
Because of all the travel, I have been away from school more than ever! It has been hard on my school work, but thankfully I have learned somewhat how to manage my time. We have dead week this week and finals next week! I think everyone is happy the school year is almost over. I cannot believe that I am almost a junior in college! Everyone told me that college would go much faster than high school, but I did not believe that for a second! Only two more years before I will be living in grown up world!!! UH-OH world, watch out!!
Y’all come back now!
Roll Tide Roll!!
