Georgia State claims Sun Belt Conference

Georgia State won its third straight tournament to claim the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Saucier, Miss.

Georgia State was the only team under par at Grand Bear Golf Club on Wednesday. The Panthers shot 1-under 287 in the final round for a 1-under 863 total.

South Alabama finished in second, one shot back of Georgia State. Texas-Arlington (865), Louisiana (876) and Texas State (884) rounded out the top 5.

Texas State’s Stuart Smallwood won medalist honors on the par 72, 7,072-yard course. Smallwood shot 68-68-72 for a 8-under 208 total. South Alabama’s Tyler Klava and Georgia State’s Damon Stephenson finished in a tie for second, three shots back of Smallwood.
