SHSU, Cabra sweep Southland titles

Although the team shot 8-over 296 in the final round, Sam Houston state won the Southland Conference title by six shots on Wednesday.

The team finished at 14-over 878 at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club’s Dye Course in McKinney, Texas.

Southeastern Louisiana finished in second at 20-over 884, 14 shots better than Stephen F. Austin State and Central Arkansas, who finished in a tie for third. Lamar (910) rounded out the top 5.

Sam Houston State’s Zach Cabra won the Southland Conference individual title by shooting rounds of 69-69-72 on the par 72, 7,346-yard course. He finished at 6-under 210.

Central Arkansas’ Pep Angles, who was the leader after 36 holes, finished in second, one-shot back of Cabra after a final-round 3-over 75.
