It was a good week for Alabama State.

Not only did the men's golf team run away to a 43-stroke win at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship, but the women earned their own trophy at Links On The Bayou Golf Course in Alexandria, La.

The Lady Hornets placed six golfers in the top eight en route to a 50-stroke win over runner-up Texas Southern.

Janelle Kraakmen earned medalist honors after shooting a 148 over the 36-hole event.

"As a team, this is a special group," said head coach Gary Grandison in a release. "They are good students, and they are maturing as a collective group. They've earned this championship by really jelling together and recognizing what it takes to actually play your best golf. That's what we are seeing."

Grandison was named coach of the year.

Jackson State, Prairie View A&M and Mississippi Valley State rounded out the top five.
