Stanford men lead field at Pac-12 Championship

Stanford, the No. 6 team in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, took a four-stroke lead in the first round of the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship.

Patrick Rodgers, No. 3 in the Golfweek rankings, led the Cardinal with a 1-under 71, tying for second. The team shot a 2-over 362 collectively, jumping out in front of Arizona by four strokes at the Gallery at Dove Mountain in Marana, Ariz.

No. 5 California and No. 11 Washington are tied for third at 8-over 368 and No. 17 UCLA is in fifth at 10-over 370.

Washington State's Michael Anderson leads the field at 2-under 70. Anderson, who started on hole No. 10, got to the turn in 2 under; he cooled off down the stretch, making three bogeys and three birdies during his final nine holes.

The field will play an additional 18 holes on Friday, and finish the 54-hole tournament with 18 on Saturday and Sunday.
